Officer Meeting (2011-03-28)

Updates

–          Visit Day. Fuck yeah! Mad props to Stefan and Zach.

–          E-Week. Sounds like it also went well… enough.

–          Sandisk Social Hour: Thanks to everyone that made it happen!

Current Projects

–          Student (and Advisor) Review Rewrite

  • Initial draft planned for next meeting
  • Concept pitched to faculty, very receptive but leery of an overconstrained form
  • Faculty suggested guidance (like the rewrite committee has already thought of)
  • Some faculty also have issues criticizing their students
  • Different for 1st vs 5th years

–          Dual Advising Proposal

  • Created and submitted initial draft
  • Received feedback from Dana

–          Student Survey

  • Use a 1-7 slider scale
  • Demographics – find out who is responding
    • Domestic vs international, by advisor, by area
  • Ask about post-grad plans
  • Ask if post-grad plans have changed during time here
  • Faculty want to know how they are doing
  • 2nd order hearsay questions (how do you think other labs are doing)
  • Do infosessions equal food sinks? (i.e. useless)

Social Events for April

–          MSEGSC social planned for 4/22. James is on the ball here.

–          Paintball, Lounge opening, Bar night events. Need one per week.

–          Social committee to figure their shit out!

–          Dana is also doing a social hour! Peter and Alan volunteer to help her out.

FIGURE OUT WHO IS REPLACING YOU OR WHO YOU ARE REPLACING
